Energy Saving Air Handling for Government
Ohio Statehouse Renovation
CHALLENGE: The Ohio Statehouse faced unique challenges when selecting air handling systems for a governmental building renovation. Access to the mechanical room was limited to a small access elevator, existing hallways and doors. In addition, great consideration had to be taken to maintain the historical aesthetic of the 200-year-old building while modernizing its air handling systems.
SOLUTION: The Ohio Statehouse selected Air Enterprises’ SiteBilt air handling units to replace its old, underperforming equipment. Air Enterprises shipped 14 air handling units ranging from 6,000 CFM to 13,000 CFM in pieces and transported them through doorways and elevators to prevent changes to the historical building’s architecture. Alternatively, standard factory assembled air handling units are large and would have required demolition to make space for installation.
RESULTS: The air handling units installed by Air Enterprises were designed for improved component access, which will make maintenance and replacement less expensive and more efficient for the Ohio Statehouse. Air Enterprises also saved the Statehouse construction costs by performing on-site assembly of its new air handling system.
